Downpayment Assistance for Homebuyers

This week the Washington State Legislature enacted a very creative program using the $8,000 tax credit (HR1, American Reinvestment and Revitalization Act) and parlaying it into downpayment assistance for first time homebuyers in Washington State.

We are the first state to do this and our legislators deserve all the credit. If you're interested, click here to a link from Washington REALTORS.

Dave,

...isn't this how we got here in first place? (Overuse of
leverage for everything and by everybody/business).

If one can't raise enough money for a down payment, shouldn't they simply wait? Do they really need to be purchasing a house? and oh by the way, when they do get the house, they are going to need this, that, and the other just to make it a home.

Wow - another example of the power of lobbyists (realTORS...NAR) to help elected officials set bad policy.
